What you get

Framer is a website builder for designers and startups: you design on a canvas, add CMS collections, animations and code components, and publish in one click. Plans on the pricing page:

• Free: a Framer subdomain, 1 GB bandwidth, 10 CMS collections, 1,000 pages and up to three editors; no custom domain.
• Basic: $10 a month, with a free custom domain, 2 CMS collections and 50 GB bandwidth.
• Pro: $30 a month, with 10 CMS collections, 100 GB bandwidth, redirects and a staging environment.
• Enterprise: custom.

Prices are monthly and billed on the cycle you choose at checkout; a complimentary domain comes with yearly billing.

Who qualifies

Anyone can use the plans. The startup programme requires all three: pre-seed or seed stage, no previous use of Framer, and backing by a Framer-approved partner.

Good to know

• Framer for Startups offers a free year of Framer Pro, which Framer values at $360. You apply with a form on the startups page that asks for your stage, headcount and partner.
• The free plan cannot connect a custom domain.
• For open-source or non-revenue side projects the FAQ says Framer can be flexible on limits.
• Check whether your accelerator or investor is on Framer's partner list before you build, because the offer is only for startups that have not used Framer before.

Verdict

Framer is one of the quickest ways to ship a modern, animated landing page. If you are backed by one of its partners, the free Pro year covers your first year of hosting.

1. Check the startup requirements: pre-seed or seed, never used Framer, backed by a Framer-approved partner.
2. Open the Framer for Startups page and click Join the program.
3. Fill in the form with your company, domain, stage, headcount, partner and Crunchbase or LinkedIn link.
4. Once approved, build your site and apply the free Pro year.
5. Without the programme, start on the free plan and upgrade to Basic or Pro.
