About Squarespace
What you get
Squarespace is an all-in-one website builder: templates, hosting, AI tools, an online store, invoices, and selling of content and memberships. The pricing page lists three plans:
- Basic: custom website, up to two contributors, a 2% online store transaction fee and a 7% fee on digital content and memberships.
- Core (recommended): unlimited contributors, advanced analytics, CSS and JavaScript customisation, 0% store transaction fee, 5% on digital content, shipping and tax tools, and Google Workspace email.
- Advanced: 0% transaction fees on both, plus advanced selling features.
Who qualifies
Anyone; sign up online.
Good to know
- Price not confirmed in USD. When we checked, the pricing page showed prices in local currency for our location, so we have not recorded a US dollar price. Check the price for your country on the page.
- Every site starts with a 14-day free trial, no card required.
- Paying annually saves up to 36% and includes one year of free custom domain registration (one per site, registered within the first year).
- Transaction fees on Basic make it a poor fit if you plan to sell much.
- Compare the total yearly cost, including domain renewal after the free year, email and any extensions you add.
- Use the 14-day trial to build your real homepage before you pay, so you know the template fits.
Verdict
Squarespace is a good choice for a polished brochure site or small store when you want templates and support rather than design freedom. Choose Core if you will sell anything, to avoid the 2% fee.
