About Render
What you get
Render runs full-stack apps: web services, private services, background workers, cron jobs, managed Postgres and a Redis-compatible key-value store, deployed from Git or Docker. Pricing is a workspace plan plus compute:
- Hobby: $0 a month plus compute, up to 25 services and 5 GB of bandwidth.
- Pro: $25 a month plus compute, unlimited seats and services, 25 GB of bandwidth, autoscaling and full-stack previews.
- Scale: $499 a month plus compute; Enterprise: custom.
Compute starts with a free web service instance (limitations apply), then $7 a month for 512 MB RAM, $25 for 1 CPU and 2 GB. Postgres starts free, then $6 a month.
Who qualifies
Anyone can sign up. Startup credits are for new customers that meet the tier rules below.

- Scale: $10K (under $1M raised) or $25K ($1M or more) with funding from an enrolled top-tier VC.
- AI: $100K for AI-native products with at least $2.5M from an enrolled top-tier VC.
- Separate migration credits of up to $10K are offered for teams moving production infrastructure.
Verdict
Render is a simple place to run a real back end without a DevOps hire. Most funded startups can get at least the $500 credit; the large tiers need a partner VC.
