About Cloudflare Registrar
What you get
Cloudflare Registrar sells domain names at cost. The product page says Cloudflare does not mark up domain prices at all, and that registration, transfer and renewal prices are always at or below what registries and ICANN charge Cloudflare. It supports over 430 top-level domains, including .com, .net, .org, .ai, .app and .dev.
Every domain gets:
- Free WHOIS redaction, so your personal contact details stay out of public records.
- Free one-click DNSSEC.
- A transfer lock that is on by default until you unlock it.
- Integration with Cloudflare's free DNS, CDN and SSL.
Who qualifies
Anyone with a Cloudflare account; you manage domains in the Cloudflare dashboard. Existing domains can be transferred in.
Good to know
- Because prices are at cost, there are no first-year teaser prices and no renewal jumps: what you pay to register is what you pay to renew.
- There is no monthly fee; you pay per domain per year at the registry price.
- Cloudflare does not run a customer referral or affiliate programme for the registrar.
- Registry lock and out-of-band verification are reserved for Enterprise customers.
- Keep auto-renew on and keep a valid card on the account; losing a domain because a card expired is a common and painful mistake.
- Register the domain in the company's name, or move it to the company once it exists, so ownership is clean for investors.
Verdict
For most startups, Cloudflare Registrar is the cheapest honest place to keep your main domain over the long run, especially if you already use Cloudflare for DNS. Buy the name here, point it at whatever host you use, and forget about surprise renewals.
How to apply
- Create or sign in to a Cloudflare account.
- Open Domain Registration in the dashboard and search for a name, or start a transfer.
- Pay the at-cost price for the term you want.
