About Atlassian for Startups
What you get
Eligible startups get the Premium edition of Atlassian products for $0 for 12 months, for up to 50 users:
- Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and Rovo (up to 50 seats each);
- Loom Business + AI (up to 50 seats);
- Jira Service Management and Customer Service Management (up to 10 seats each);
- Jira Product Discovery Premium (10 creator seats, unlimited contributors).
Marketplace apps are not included, and Atlassian notes the product list may change.
Who qualifies
You must meet all of these:
- not an existing Atlassian paid customer;
- VC-funded, or associated with a partner accelerator or incubator;
- raised no more than US$10 million in external funding.
The page does not state an age limit.
Good to know
- Atlassian may ask for proof of funding, such as a Crunchbase or PitchBook profile.
- Each startup can enrol for one 12-month period. Before it ends you choose to renew (and pay) or cancel each product.
- Going beyond the seat limits means moving to a paid tier with an annual quote, and usage-based pricing may apply in some cases.
Verdict
A strong perk for funded teams that plan work in Jira and document in Confluence. Bootstrapped founders without an accelerator link do not qualify, and you should plan for the renewal cost in month 11. Put a reminder in your calendar a month before the year ends, decide which products you will keep, and reduce seats you do not need. If you are bootstrapped, Atlassian's free plans for small teams are the fallback.
How to apply
- Confirm you are not already a paid Atlassian customer and have raised $10M or less.
- Prepare proof of VC funding or of your partner accelerator or incubator (for example a Crunchbase or PitchBook profile).
- Submit the startups request form linked from the Atlassian for Startups page.
- Once approved, set up the Premium products for up to 50 users.
