About Cloudflare for Startups
What you get
Cloudflare's startup program has three tiers, all with credits valid for one year:
- Tier 3: $10,000 in credits for bootstrapped or self-funded startups with under $1M raised. Developer docs, Discord and community events.
- Tier 2: $100,000 for startups with under $5M raised that are funded by an affiliated partner. Technical sessions and, depending on the case, an account manager.
- Tier 1: $350,000 for startups with $5M or more raised, funded by an affiliated partner. Account manager, priority support and bi-weekly Solutions Architect office hours.
Credits cover usage-based developer platform services such as Workers, Durable Objects, Workflows, Workers KV, D1, Queues, Vectorize, R2 (capped at $10,000), Pages, Images, Stream, Cache Reserve and Argo.
Who qualifies
You must meet all of these: incorporated within the last 10 years; funded up to Series B, with funding within the last 12 months; actively building a technology product; a live public website; a public presence on LinkedIn, X or GitHub; a for-profit business using an email on your domain; never approved before. Educational institutions, personal blogs, consultancies, agencies, MSPs and resellers are not eligible.
Good to know
- Credits last one year or until used, whichever comes first; extensions are not currently available, and the program is one-time per startup.
- Workers AI is capped by tier: the FAQ lists $2,500 (Tier 3), $10,000 (Tier 2) and $50,000 (Tier 1).
- AI Gateway, domain registration, Magic Transit, dedicated IPs and the China Network are not covered.
- Reviews usually take up to 48 hours.
Verdict
Very useful if you build on Workers, R2 and Cloudflare's edge. Bootstrapped founders can get $10,000 without a partner; the larger tiers require an affiliated investor.
How to apply
- Make sure you have a live website, a business email on that domain and a public LinkedIn, X or GitHub presence.
- If you are funded, ask your investor or accelerator whether it is a Cloudflare affiliated partner.
- Submit the application linked from cloudflare.com/forstartups.
- Wait for the confirmation email (usually within 48 hours) and start using the credits within the year.
