About Mercury
What you get
Mercury gives your company business checking and savings, domestic and USD international wires, ACH, cards, bill pay and invoicing. The base plan is $0 a month. Mercury Plus costs $29.90 a month and adds invoicing features such as recurring invoices and ACH debit invoicing; Mercury Pro costs $299 a month and adds a relationship manager. Annual billing is 15% cheaper. Mercury Books (bookkeeping) is listed at $35 a month, with the fee waived until 31 December 2026.
Mercury is a fintech company, not a bank. Banking is provided by Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., and deposits are covered up to $5M through a partner-bank sweep network. Customers also get a perks catalogue (the perks page lists 273 partners, such as AWS credits and Notion discounts) but Mercury does not state a total value.
Who qualifies
Your company must be formed and registered in the US or a US territory, with existing or planned US operations. You do not need to be a US citizen or resident: founders abroad can apply unless they or a financial controller live in a country on Mercury's prohibited list. Money services businesses, adult entertainment, cannabis, internet gambling and trusts are not supported.
Good to know
- Your principal place of business can be a US or international address, but not a registered-agent address, PO box or UPS box.
- Non-USD international wires carry a 1% conversion fee; non-USD card spend carries 3%.
- Treasury needs a $250K balance.
Verdict
For a US-incorporated startup, especially one run from outside the US, Mercury is one of the easiest accounts to open and the free plan covers most early needs.
How to apply
