About Vercel for Startups
What you get
Vercel says its startup program gives eligible teams up to $30,000 in Flexible Commitment Amount (credit towards Vercel usage), Enterprise-tier access and startup-focused support for building and scaling on Vercel. That covers hosting for Next.js and other frameworks, preview deployments, observability and Vercel's AI tooling.
Who qualifies
Vercel does not publish detailed eligibility rules on its startups pages. It says the offer is for "eligible teams" and that it works with venture capital firms and accelerators ("startup partners") that pass on exclusive discounts and benefits to their portfolio companies. There is also an interest form for startups that want to join.
Good to know
- Because the criteria are not public, assume the best route is through a partner VC or accelerator; ask yours whether it has a Vercel deal.
- The credit is a "Flexible Commitment Amount", which is Vercel's term for prepaid credit on an Enterprise agreement, so expect an Enterprise contract conversation.
- The term and expiry of the credit are not stated on the page.
Verdict
Valuable if you deploy a Next.js or front-end heavy product and you have a partner investor. Without published criteria it is hard to plan around, so treat it as a bonus rather than a budget line. If you host elsewhere, the Cloudflare, AWS and Google programs in this category publish their terms in full and accept direct applications. Whichever host you pick, set spend alerts from day one so the end of a credit period does not surprise you.
How to apply
- Ask your VC or accelerator whether it is a Vercel startup partner.
- If not, use "Apply for Vercel Credits" or the interest form on vercel.com/startups.
- Talk to the Vercel startups team about your usage and terms.
- Confirm the credit amount, term and Enterprise agreement in writing before you rely on it.
